3. Information we collect

When you contact us, submit an enquiry or deal with us in a business capacity, we may collect your name, job title, employer or organisation, business contact details, postal or delivery address where relevant, the subject and content of your message, product or service interests, order or account-related information where relevant, and our correspondence with you. Please do not include special category or criminal offence information in a website enquiry unless it is necessary.

When you use the website, our systems may also process technical and usage information such as IP address, browser and device information, operating system, pages visited, referral source, date and time, interactions, downloads, response times and error information.

4. How we collect it

We collect information directly from you when you complete a form, email or telephone us, and automatically through website logs and permitted cookies or similar technologies.

We may also receive business contact information from colleagues in your organisation, existing business contacts, professional advisers, suppliers, customers, logistics partners, public registers or other publicly available business sources where relevant to an enquiry, transaction or business relationship.

5. Why we use it and our lawful bases

We use personal information to respond to enquiries; provide product, corporate or investor information; manage prospective and existing customer, supplier, adviser and other business relationships; route communications to the appropriate Unigel or Unitape company; administer orders, deliveries, contracts, accounts and complaints where relevant; operate, secure and improve the website; maintain records; comply with legal and regulatory duties; and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Our lawful bases are legitimate interests for ordinary B2B communications, relationship management, website administration, security, fraud prevention and service improvement; steps before entering into or performance of a contract where the individual is personally party to it; legal obligation where processing is required by law; and consent for non-essential cookies or similar technologies where required. Our legitimate interests include responding efficiently, operating and protecting our business and website, managing commercial relationships and keeping appropriate business records, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.

6. Marketing

We will not add you to electronic marketing merely because you sent an enquiry.

If we introduce newsletters or other direct marketing, we will explain this at the point of collection, provide any required choice or consent, and allow you to opt out at any time.

7. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate our website, protect it from misuse and understand how visitors use it.

Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies are required for the website to function or remain secure. They may include technologies used to protect forms from spam and automated misuse and do not require consent.

Analytics cookies
Where analytics are enabled, we use them only with consent to understand how visitors use the website and improve its content and performance. Non-essential analytics technologies are not placed unless you enable them through the cookie preference tool.

You can accept or decline non-essential cookies and change your preferences through Cookie settings. Our Cookie Policy gives current details of the technologies in use, their providers, purposes and duration. We review the live configuration and update that information when technologies change.

8. Who receives your information

Information may be accessed by authorised Unigel Group Limited personnel and, where necessary to deal with an enquiry or business matter, authorised personnel within the relevant Unigel or Unitape company.

We may share information with service providers supporting website hosting and maintenance, email, IT support, cloud storage, security, backup, analytics and professional advice; with relevant customers, suppliers, logistics providers or advisers where necessary to deal with an enquiry or transaction; and with regulators, law-enforcement bodies, courts or other authorities where required or permitted by law. Providers acting for us must process information under appropriate contractual and security requirements.

We do not sell personal information.

9. International transfers

Some authorised group personnel and IT support providers may access personal information from Malaysia, including where they support business systems, email, website enquiries or backups. Other overseas access may arise through cloud, analytics or communications providers.

Where personal information is transferred or made accessible outside the UK, we use a lawful transfer arrangement where required, such as UK adequacy regulations or approved contractual safeguards, and carry out associated assessments and supplementary protections where appropriate. You may contact us for further information about the safeguard relevant to your information.

10. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, including to respond to and manage enquiries or business relationships, maintain security and operational records, meet legal, accounting and reporting obligations, and deal with potential disputes or claims. The period therefore depends on the type of record and the context. Contractual, transaction and financial records may normally be retained for up to seven years after the relevant relationship or transaction ends, while website logs, cookie information and routine enquiries are kept for shorter periods based on operational and security needs.

When information is no longer required, it will be securely deleted or anonymised.

11. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

These include access restrictions and security controls for website, email, IT and backup systems.

12. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to be informed; request access to and correction of your personal information; request erasure or restriction; object to processing based on legitimate interests or to direct marketing; and receive certain information you provided to us in a portable format. You also have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing that produces legal or similarly significant effects, where that right applies. We do not currently use website information to make such decisions.

Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.

These rights are subject to conditions and exemptions under data-protection law.

We normally respond to rights requests within one month. We do not usually charge a fee, although the law permits us to do so or refuse a request in limited circumstances.

13. Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have collected, used or otherwise handled your personal information, please contact Gary Revel-Chion at gary.revel-chion@unigel.com.

We will acknowledge a data-protection complaint within 30 days of receiving it, take appropriate steps to investigate it, keep you informed where appropriate and provide you with an outcome without undue delay. These requirements reflect the complaints-handling duties introduced by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) about how your personal information has been handled. You may contact the ICO at any time, although the ICO recommends giving us an opportunity to consider and respond to your complaint first.

Current information about making a complaint to the ICO is available at:
